What's on during Cheltenham's Ladies' Day?

Day 1: Champion Hurdle Day   |   Day 3: St Patrick's Day   |   Day 4: Gold Cup Day   |   Cheltenham Festival

Racing begins at 13:30 on Wednesday 13th March with the race regularly referred to as the Neptune, but now known as the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle. It could also represent one of the biggest head-to-heads of the four days, with Champ taking on Battleoverdoyen. The two horses are unbeaten in seven starts between them this season.

This is followed by the RSA Chase at 14:10, before the Coral Cup at 14:50. A good Coral Cup Cheltenham tip in recent years has been to back a horse trained in Ireland, as these horses have won the last three renewals.

The Queen Mother Champion Chase is the big race of the day at 15:30, before the unique test of the Cross Country Chase at 16:10, the ultra-competitive Fred Winter Hurdle at 16:50 and then finally the Champion Bumper at 17:30.

Altior tops the Champion Chase betting

Altior has been a successful Cheltenham Festival tip in each of the last three years, winning the Supreme Novices' Hurdle in 2016, the Arkle Trophy in 2017 and then the Champion Chase last year.

This year he's back to defend his Champion Chase crown and is the only horse that is considered odds-on for victory across the 28 races of the 2019 Cheltenham Festival.

His position as the clear favourite in the Champion Chase betting is more than justified as he is unbeaten in all 12 of his chase starts.

The winners and results from Ladies' Day 2018

Betting on fancied favourites proved a profitable strategy on the second day of the 2018 Festival, with Samcro, Presenting Percy and Altior all doing the honours.

If you want a tip for an outsider at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival it may be best to focus on the Fred Winter Hurdle. These are the starting prices of the last seven winners: 33/1, 33/1, 13/2, 25/1, 33/1, 25/1 and 40/1.
